A judge has issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against professional boxer Deontay Wilder, following allegations of physical and mental abuse by his fiancée, Telli Swift.
The TRO, granted on Monday, mandates that Wilder maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from both Swift and their six-year-old daughter until a scheduled court hearing on June 25, where further legal actions will be determined.
Swift, engaged to Wilder since 2018, claims that the boxer has subjected her to repeated abuse over the past six years.
She recounted being forcibly removed from their Atlanta home on April 15, shortly after undergoing surgery.
Currently residing in their Los Angeles-area home with their daughter, Swift expressed ongoing fear of Wilder’s potential violence upon his return from a recent fight in Saudi Arabia.
“I believe Deontay is capable of being physically violent towards me upon his return in June because he has expressed that he is furious with me since April and has been physically abusive with me in the past,” Swift stated.
In her application for the TRO, Swift provided detailed accounts of abuse, including incidents where Wilder allegedly choked her at least five times since 2018 and nearly suffocated her by pressing her face into a pillow.
She also accused him of spitting on her, frequent ridicule, and demanding sex up to three times a day.
Additionally, Swift claimed Wilder had been surveilling her through a home security system and sent distressing messages to her personal and professional contacts in April after accessing her laptop without permission.
These allegations come in the wake of Wilder’s recent defeat by Zhilei Zhang, who won with a fifth-round knockout in their fight on Saturday in Saudi Arabia.
The upcoming court appearance will determine the continuation or modification of the restraining order and address the broader implications of Swift’s accusations against Wilder.
