Sean Combs Trial Update: Defense Points to ‘Love Contract’ And Affectionate Moments To Undermine Coercion Claims

On Tuesday, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team intensified its effort to counter accusations of sexual assault and coercion by casting his relationship with the alleged victim, referred to as “Jane,” as consensual and affectionate — even contractual.

During a rigorous cross-examination, defense attorney Tenny Garagos, son of prominent defense lawyer Mark Geragos, highlighted a series of intimate details from the couple’s past.

These included foot rubs, cuddling while watching NBC’s Dateline, and a “love contract” signed in March 2023, which guaranteed Jane a monthly financial stipend and housing support. The courtroom heard that Jane suggested the contract herself during a trip to Turks and Caicos, a detail the defense used to suggest mutual consent and agency.

Garagos asked Jane to describe what she liked about Combs. “It was the things he said, how he made me feel… I enjoyed the lovemaking,” she responded, eliciting light laughter from jurors when she confidently replied to a question about wearing sexy clothing: “I didn’t try. I did that.”

Defense attorneys also played an audio message in which Combs told Jane, “You are my crack pipe. You got your contract,” to which she responded warmly, “You’re my crack pipe too,” and expressed excitement about their return to Los Angeles. In the message, she added, “I love you so, so, so much… two-year contract,” referring again to the financial arrangement.

Jane confirmed during testimony that the arrangement included a $10,000-per-month four-bedroom home, which Combs still pays for. She also admitted to loving Combs “even now,” despite her allegations, and acknowledged that under the influence of drugs — which she says he encouraged her to take — she believed she enjoyed engaging in certain sexual behaviors at the time.

These revelations come as the defense seeks to undermine the prosecution’s claims that Combs used manipulation, money, and substances to control Jane throughout their relationship.

The defense’s narrative leans heavily on the idea of a transactional and emotionally complex relationship, in contrast to the prosecution’s portrayal of exploitation.

With Mark Geragos observing proudly from the courtroom gallery, Tenny Garagos pressed Jane on her age at the start of the relationship. She confirmed she was 35 when she began dating Combs — a point that may influence the jury’s view on issues of maturity and consent.

The high profile case continues week as both sides dig further into the final months of the relationship, especially events that allegedly occurred in spring 2023.
