An 18-year-old high school student in California named Sebastian Villasenor was arrested and is facing charges for attempting to carry out a shooting on campus.
A classmate became worried when they noticed Villasenor’s fixation on school shootings and his access to weapons. The police found seven rifles, two revolvers, a handgun, and a shotgun at his home, along with over 1,000 rounds of ammunition.
Villasenor had five intended victims, all girls, and was considering a sixth. He was obsessed with school shootings, researching tactics and planning a specific date for his attack, officials indicate.
The police chief stated that Villasenor had every intention of carrying out the shooting.
He’s charged with attempted criminal threats and five counts of attempted murder. Despite pleading not guilty, he’s being held without bail due to the risk he poses.
The investigation started after a student from Ontario Christian High School bravely reported their concerns about Villasenor.
The principal praised the student for speaking up when they noticed something was wrong. Police found that Villasenor wasn’t bullied but had difficulties forming relationships with others.
Investigators believe he planned to carry out the shooting on April 20, the anniversary of the Columbine shooting, as he was obsessed with that tragic event.
