Independent digital artist and social media personality Jerrilyn Lake, known online as @indeskribeabull, has announced she is seeking legal representation in connection with what she claims is a $25,000 unpaid balance from Meta Platforms, Inc. related to the company’s now-defunct Threads bonus program.
In a video posted to Instagram, Lake alleges that despite earning approximately $5,000 monthly through the Threads monetization initiative, those funds were never disbursed to her.
She further claims that repeated attempts to verify her identity with Meta and access her earnings were unsuccessful.
“I sent every piece of relevant information—bank statements, PayPal records, a copy of my ID—but Meta has refused to verify my identity and continues to withhold the money,” Lake said in her video. “Now they’ve revoked my Facebook monetization as well.”
Lake, whose following spans Instagram, Threads, and other social platforms, has publicly accused Meta of breaching its obligations under the Threads bonus program and announced that she is actively seeking legal counsel to pursue the matter.

Meta launched its Threads bonus program in 2023 as part of an incentive scheme to attract creators to its Twitter-like text platform, Threads.
Under the terms, eligible creators were to receive payouts based on activity and engagement metrics. While Meta has since sunset the program, outstanding compensation disputes have begun surfacing among former participants, raising questions around contractual obligations, platform transparency, and payment verification procedures.
Lake’s case could hinge on whether Meta’s terms of service and bonus program disclosures constitute an enforceable agreement and whether her participation and accrued metrics legally entitle her to the specified payments.
Additionally, any wrongful suspension of payment processing without reasonable justification may open Meta to breach of contract, unjust enrichment, or promissory estoppel claims.
Lake’s assertion that her identity verification documents were repeatedly submitted but not accepted may also raise data protection and consumer rights issues under both U.S. and applicable state privacy and commercial law statutes.
Seeking Legal Redress
Lake has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for legal fees and has stated her intention to remove her content from Meta platforms. She is encouraging supporters to follow her on alternative platforms including YouTube and Patreon.
Legal analysts note that if Lake’s allegations are substantiated, her claim could serve as a test case for how social media platforms are held accountable when alleged nonpayments involve significant sums and creator livelihoods.
Meta has yet to issue a public statement in response to Lake’s claims.
