Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team is undergoing a significant change as defense attorney Anthony Ricco has formally requested to withdraw from representing the embattled music mogul in his federal sex trafficking case.

Ricco, one of six attorneys on Combs’ defense team, did not provide a specific reason for his departure but made it clear that he could no longer serve as counsel.

In court papers filed in Manhattan federal court, Ricco stated:

“Under no circumstances can I continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs.”

His request for withdrawal follows a discussion with lead defense attorney Marc Agnifilo.

The motion, first reported by the New York Post, awaits judicial approval. However, Ricco explained that his exit would not disrupt the case’s timeline, as Combs retains five other attorneys. The trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.

Combs faces multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and human trafficking, with federal investigators reportedly gathering extensive evidence against him.

The case has drawn significant public and legal scrutiny, particularly given the high-profile nature of the allegations and the broader implications for the entertainment industry.

Ricco’s departure raises questions about potential internal conflicts or strategic shifts within Combs’ legal team as the high-stakes trial approaches.
