Young Thug’s Defense Attorney Files Motion to Disqualify Prosecutors in RICO Case, Citing Ethical Violations

In a significant legal maneuver, Brian Steel, the defense attorney representing Jeffrey Williams, known professionally as Young Thug, has filed a motion seeking the disqualification of key prosecution attorneys in the high-profile RICO case against the rapper.

The motion, filed on Aug. 6, targets Chief Deputy District Attorney Adriane Love and Deputy District Attorney Symone Hylton, alleging serious ethical misconduct.

Steel’s motion, submitted to the court, accuses Love and Hylton of engaging in behavior that has created a “horror” for the defense, citing past and ongoing ethical violations.

The defense attorney specifically requested that the court review a 2013 case involving Ford Motor Co., in which Love and Hylton allegedly engaged in similar misconduct.

According to Steel, the prosecutors in that case were involved in filing frivolous motions, making false statements, and committing other serious legal violations.

The motion underscores Steel’s frustration with the court’s earlier decision on August 1, 2024, when it denied Williams’ original motion to disqualify Love and Hylton.

The court’s denial was based on Williams’ intent to call both prosecutors as witnesses during the trial, a strategy aimed at highlighting their alleged ethical breaches.

Steel’s latest motion elaborates on the specific allegations against the prosecutors.

He argues that during the Ford Motor Co. case, Love repeatedly filed motions asserting that the defense was required to produce work product, despite knowing this requirement was unfounded.

Additionally, Steel accuses Love of violating court orders, making false statements, misrepresenting evidence, and making baseless accusations of witness tampering against the defense. The motion also alleges that Love committed at least one Brady violation—a serious infraction involving the suppression of exculpatory evidence.

In concluding his motion, Steel stressed the gravity of the situation, stating:

“The above does not truly encapsulate the horror of working with lawyer Love and lawyer Hylton. Not to be able to trust the prosecution to provide the simplest and most basic fundamental fairness such as honesty to the tribunal and honesty to all in the Courtroom must mandate that both lawyers Love and Hylton be disqualified from the case.”

This motion represents the latest in a series of legal challenges in the RICO case against Young Thug, as his defense team continues to contest the actions and integrity of the prosecution.
