Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z is revealing the financial damage caused by a now-dismissed sexual assault lawsuit, stating that his company, Roc Nation, lost lucrative contracts worth $20 million per year due to the allegations.
In new court filings, Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, outlined the severe economic impact that followed the public accusations.
“Immediately after Mr. Buzbee went public with his false accusations, my company Roc Nation lost contracts in the sports and entertainment space that would have generated revenues of approximately $20 million per year,” Jay-Z stated in legal documents.
The lawsuit, filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, accused Jay-Z and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting a woman when she was 13 years old.
However, the case was officially dismissed with prejudice on February 14, 2025, meaning it cannot be refiled.

Impact on Mufasa: The Lion King Premiere
Jay-Z also claimed that the lawsuit overshadowed his appearance at the premiere of Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King, where he was supporting his daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
“I was harshly criticized by others for accompanying my daughter to the premiere a day after Mr. Buzbee filed the lawsuit against me. Media outlets reported that Disney was hesitant over my attendance. I feel that Mr. Buzbee purposely filed this lawsuit on the eve of my daughter’s premiere to put me in the position of having to choose between supporting my daughter or hiding to avoid the negative press,” Jay-Z said.
Dismissal of the Lawsuit
Court records confirm that the lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, preventing any future re-litigation of the claims.
While Jay-Z and his legal team have maintained that the allegations were false and defamatory, the rapper is now detailing the professional and personal consequences he faced in the wake of the lawsuit.
As Roc Nation seeks to recover from the loss of multimillion-dollar deals, this case raises broader concerns about the long-term impact of high-profile allegations, even when dismissed.
