Latuita Holland, 44, is facing aggravated assault charges following a road rage incident on I-20, during which she allegedly shot and injured a driver.
Holland, who was traveling with her daughter, has admitted to firing the shots after claiming the driver of a black Chevy truck acted aggressively and caused them to fear for their safety.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night as Holland was driving her daughter, Laderrika Holland, to work. According to witness statements, the driver of the truck had been tailgating them and repeatedly slamming on his brakes.
Laderrika Holland stated that despite attempts to distance themselves from the vehicle, the truck driver continued to block their path, forcing both cars to stop.
At this point, Laderrika claimed she saw the truck’s passenger exit the vehicle with his hands pointed in a manner she and her mother interpreted as threatening.
In response, Latuita Holland fired two shots, one of which struck the driver in the stomach. Officers who arrived at the scene later confirmed that the driver did not have a weapon.
Holland now faces serious legal repercussions, including aggravated assault charges, raising important legal questions about self-defense, perceived threats, and the limits of lawful response in road rage situations.
