Broward County Woman, Jalisa Hill, Arrested and Charged with First-Degree Murder in Grandparents’ Deaths

A 34-year-old woman from Broward County, Jalisa Hill, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder following allegations that she conspired with her ex-boyfriend, Maurice Newson, to murder her grandparents.

The case, which has garnered significant media attention, stems from the discovery of the elderly couple shot to death in their home.

According to law enforcement, the couple’s red Ford Fusion was missing from the crime scene. Two weeks later, the vehicle was located in a tow yard after a tipster recognized it from news reports.

Investigators revealed that Newson had sold the car for $200 shortly after the murders. His arrest led authorities to Hill, after it was discovered she had transferred $1,000 to Newson following the deaths of her grandparents.

While authorities have not confirmed the motive for the murders, it has been reported that Hill was living with her grandparents at the time and believed she was entitled to inherit their home. Police also obtained a note from Hill expressing her intentions to renovate the house, despite not being the legal owner.

In a critical development, Hill voluntarily submitted to a polygraph test, during which she was found to be deceptive when questioned about her role in the deaths.

Additionally, authorities allege that Hill filed an insurance claim for the stolen vehicle but failed to report the death of its owners to the insurance company.

Both Hill and Newson are now in custody, facing serious legal consequences as the investigation continues.
