Appeals Court Blocks Biden Administration Net Neutrality Rules

Biden Net Neutrality Rules

On Thursday, a U.S. appeals court blocked the Federal Communications Commission’s efforts to reinstate landmark net neutrality rules.

Broadband providers are likely to succeed in their legal challenge against these rules. In April, the FCC, voting along party lines, decided to reassume regulatory oversight of broadband internet and reinstate the open internet rules initially adopted in 2015.

These rules were later rescinded during Donald Trump’s presidency. The Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals had initially delayed the rules and announced on Thursday that it would temporarily block net neutrality rules.

The court scheduled oral arguments for late October or early November to address the issue.
