The Supreme Court of Maryland has decided that Marilyn Mosby, former Baltimore State’s Attorney, can maintain her law license while she appeals her federal convictions.
This ruling overturns the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission’s attempt to suspend her license earlier this year.
In a brief two-page order issued on Friday, the state’s highest court sided against the bar counsel’s request to immediately suspend Mosby’s license following her convictions for perjury and mortgage fraud in May, which resulted in a sentence of one year of home detention.
Neither Mosby nor her legal team has responded to requests for comment on the court’s decision.
Justice Steven B. Gould dissented, expressing concerns that allowing Mosby to continue practicing law could undermine public confidence in the justice system.
