Rymir Satterthwaite Says ‘It’s Not Over’ After Dropping Paternity Case Against Jay-Z: ‘I’m Standing On Business’

Rymir Satterthwaite, the New Jersey man who made headlines for pursuing a paternity case against hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, has confirmed via social media that while he withdrew his lawsuit, the fight is far from over.

In a video shared online and reposted by The Neighborhood Talk, Satterthwaite clarified the reasons behind his recent legal move, emphasizing that the dismissal of his case was strategic—not a surrender.

“I let y’all know that I have not stopped my fight,” he said. “Yes, I did withdraw my case, but it’s for a reason. It’s not because I’m stopping or not going to refile it or anything like that.”

The paternity case, which has lingered in public and legal discourse for over a decade, alleges that Jay-Z—real name Shawn Carter—is Satterthwaite’s biological father, a claim the rapper has never publicly addressed in depth. Satterthwaite has consistently called for a court-ordered DNA test, which he says has never taken place.

In the newly posted video, Satterthwaite suggested that the legal system and celebrity influence have created procedural obstacles in his pursuit of answers.

“These judges, these lawyers, these high celebrity people… try to use all different types of tactics… bully tactics… to slow it down and change the narrative,” he said. “So we gotta step back and play chess, not checkers.”

He also addressed speculation around a possible settlement:

“I have not gotten any DNA tests, have not gotten any settlement, anything like that,” he clarified. “Even if it wasn’t y’all business… I wouldn’t dare just run away with no money.”

Satterthwaite framed his legal battle as part of a larger fight for justice and due process, voicing frustration with how he says ordinary people are often treated unfairly by the courts.

“We don’t need to continue to go in these courtrooms and not get fair due process. I’m trying to change things for the world, honestly,” he said. “I’m standing on business, and I will continue to fight.”

While it remains unclear what legal steps Satterthwaite will take next—or whether a new case will be filed—he made one thing clear: his pursuit of justice isn’t over.

“Please don’t think just because I withdrew, it’s over. It’s not over, y’all.”
