After more than 24 hours of deeply emotional and graphic testimony, a woman identified in court only as Jane concluded her time on the stand Thursday, June 12, in the federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The testimony marked a pivotal moment in a case that has drawn national attention and sparked broader conversations about coercion, consent, and power in intimate relationships.
Jane, a former girlfriend of Combs, testified over six days, alleging that she was manipulated into drug-fueled sexual encounters with male escorts at the request of the Grammy-winning entrepreneur, now 55. She stated repeatedly that she never consented freely but complied out of fear, love, and financial dependence.
“I was putting on a show,” Jane said during redirect examination by federal prosecutor Maurene Comey. When asked who the performance was for, she answered simply: “Sean.”
Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He is accused of orchestrating a pattern of coercive sexual encounters involving Jane and another former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, who filed a separate civil lawsuit last year that was quickly settled for \$20 million.
Witness with Complicated Ties to the Defendant
The prosecution has pointed out the complexity of Jane’s relationship with Combs. They remained romantically involved — often in secret — until Combs’s arrest in September 2024, long after allegations by Ventura surfaced publicly. Despite her current role as a government witness, Jane testified that Combs continues to pay her rent and legal fees.
Cross-examination by Combs’s defense attorney Teny Geragos painted Jane as a consenting adult who voluntarily participated in the sexual encounters, referencing text messages in which she expressed affection and enjoyment. Jane, however, countered that she had written those messages to appease Combs and preserve their relationship.
“Does he think I’m worth more than that?” Jane snapped back, after being questioned about $150,000 wired to her during their relationship.
Sexual Violence and Witness Credibility
Jane recounted a disturbing account of a violent altercation with Combs in late 2023 that ended with her in a chokehold and suffering visible injuries. Despite their tumultuous relationship, she said she stayed—out of emotional dependence and fear.
Prosecutors allege that on the night of that altercation, Combs forced her to ingest Ecstasy and perform oral sex on a man named Anton, who frequently participated in Combs’s “freak-off” hotel nights.
“Evil,” Jane said, describing Combs’s demeanor that night.
Jane’s testimony included details of sex parties, drug use, and coercion, including a Las Vegas trip with a famous unnamed rapper. Although the defense attempted to disclose the rapper’s identity, the judge ruled to keep it sealed to preserve Jane’s anonymity.
In a related development Thursday, Chelsea Lovelace, another former girlfriend of Combs, re-filed a previously anonymous lawsuit under her real name. Her allegations — involving forced sex, drugs, and coercion — echo those made by both Jane and Ventura. Combs has categorically denied any non-consensual conduct.
An Unusual Ending to a Gripping Testimony
In a surprising courtroom moment after stepping down from the witness stand, Jane embraced both Maurene Comey, the lead federal prosecutor, and Teny Geragos, Combs’s defense attorney — a gesture symbolizing the emotional weight and complexity of her position in the case.
The trial is expected to continue in the coming weeks, with more witnesses slated to testify.
