Woman Seeks $10 Million From Meghan Markle Over Alleged Bath Salt Burns

A Maryland woman is threatening a $10 million lawsuit against Meghan Markle, claiming she was severely burned after using a bath salt recipe featured on the Duchess’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

But despite the high-dollar demand, the woman says she’s open to settling the matter outside of court.

Robin Patrick, who has diabetes, says she followed Markle’s on-screen instructions for a relaxing soak that included Epsom salt, Himalayan salt, arnica oil, and lavender oil.

During the bath, Patrick alleges her skin began burning, ultimately resulting in 18 burns and open ulcers that have not healed. She claims her underlying medical condition made her especially vulnerable, and that the show failed to issue proper warnings.

Calling the series “negligent and dangerous”, Patrick has sent a formal demand letter to Markle, Netflix, and Markle’s foundation, Archewell, seeking $75,000 to cover medical bills and $10 million in damages.

Her lawyers say the wellness advice promoted in With Love, Meghan did not include disclaimers for people with health conditions like diabetes, placing vulnerable viewers at risk.

Attorneys for Markle responded firmly, stating that Patrick should have followed the label warnings on the Epsom salt packaging, which advise diabetics to consult a physician before use. They argue the injury was not foreseeable, and that Markle bears no legal responsibility.

Still, despite the war of words, Patrick says she is willing to settle the case privately. Her legal team has not yet filed a formal complaint in court, leaving room for potential resolution behind the scenes.

The incident raises questions about the responsibilities of celebrities who share personal wellness routines with a global audience.

With Love, Meghan has featured Markle’s go-to remedies and lifestyle tips, but this marks the first time one of those recommendations has been linked to an injury claim.
