Bishop T.D. Jakes is taking legal action against Google in an effort to identify the creators of AI-generated videos falsely linking him to alleged misconduct involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.
During a recent appearance on the Today Show, Jakes condemned the viral deepfake videos, calling them a dangerous attack on his character.
“Killing people’s character has become a business,” Jakes stated, noting that independent research confirmed the manipulated nature of the images and claims.
On December 19, Jakes’ legal team filed a motion to subpoena Google, YouTube’s parent company, seeking to uncover the individuals responsible for spreading the doctored content.
The motion accuses YouTubers of exploiting the allegations against Combs to fabricate and spread defamatory claims about Jakes and other Black public figures.
The controversial videos surfaced on YouTube after Combs was arrested in September on federal sex trafficking and abuse charges. Despite multiple complaints, Jakes’ attorneys argue that YouTube has failed to remove the false content, prompting the legal escalation.
It remains unclear whether Google has responded to the subpoena.
