Rapper Sexyy Red, born Janae Wherry, is facing a $5 million civil lawsuit after allegedly inciting her fans to harass the grandmother of one of her children.

Nicole Barnes, the plaintiff, claims that in December 2024, the 26-year-old rapper shared her home address and a photo of her residence on Facebook, allegedly encouraging her followers to “kick in the door” and commit acts of violence against her.

Barnes asserts that she and her family were forced to move due to safety concerns and that she has since been undergoing therapy for emotional distress.

Barnes’ attorney, Steven Weaver, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that attempts to resolve the issue informally were dismissed by Sexyy Red’s legal team.

“They thought it was a joke. Now they’re finding out it’s not,” Weaver said.

Court filings indicate that Barnes reported the incident to the police and has struggled to secure housing at a comparable price since leaving her Hazelwood, Missouri, home. She is seeking $5 million in damages for emotional and financial hardship caused by the alleged threats.

Sexyy Red has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. The rapper, who rose to fame with her 2023 hit “Pound Town,” is the mother of two children, including a daughter born in February 2024.
