“Ms. Cyanide”: Woman Sentenced to Death for Poisoning Multiple Friends

Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn

In a chilling case that has captivated Thailand, Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn, 36, was sentenced to death on Wednesday for poisoning a friend with cyanide in the first of what could be 14 separate murder trials.

The court found Rangsiwuthaporn guilty of the calculated murder of Siriporn Kanwong, a friend she allegedly killed to avoid repaying money she owed.

The sentencing took place in a Bangkok court where Rangsiwuthaporn stood trial for her heinous crimes that span several years.

The horrific incident occurred in April of last year when Sararat and Siriporn met near Bangkok to perform a Buddhist ritual, which involved releasing fish into the Mae Klong River.

Shortly after, Siriporn collapsed and tragically passed away. Authorities later discovered traces of cyanide in her system, which led to a deeper investigation into Rangsiwuthaporn’s involvement.

Authorities connected Rangsiwuthaporn to a series of unsolved cyanide poisonings dating back to 2015. According to police reports, the online gambling addict had swindled thousands of dollars from her victims before resorting to murder.

Authorities say that Sararat’s motivation for the killings was her desperate attempt to avoid repaying the significant debts she had accumulated through gambling.

Rangsiwuthaporn’s case has gained international attention due to the disturbing nature of the crimes, especially given the number of victims who are believed to have fallen prey to her poisonings. Investigators are now working through a complex web of evidence, and Rangsiwuthaporn faces 14 trials related to her poisoning spree.

She is accused of using cyanide to end the lives of those she owed money, taking drastic measures to cover her debts and avoid paying for her actions.

This tragic case highlights the devastating consequences of addiction and the dangers of unchecked behavior. Experts warn that gambling addiction can lead to financial ruin and, as seen in this case, even worse outcomes.

Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn’s sentencing to death serves as a stark reminder of the dark side of debt and the extreme lengths some individuals may go to in order to avoid facing the consequences of their actions.
