A man whose viral 2015 courtroom reunion with Judge Mindy Glazer is still remembered by many is back behind bars after allegedly committing a string of similar crimes.
Recent robbery victims can breathe a sigh of relief after Miami Police arrested Arthur Nathaniel Booth, 58, in connection with multiple crimes, including the robbery of 85-year-old Eduardo.
Eduardo, one of the victims, shared his relief upon hearing that Booth was in custody. According to Miami Police, on August 8, 2024, a man posing as a plumber knocked on Eduardo’s door on West Flagler Street. When Eduardo opened the door, the man asked to check the faucet in his bathtub. As Eduardo bent over to open it, the thief snatched his gold chain, which held a Saint Lazarus pendant, and fled the scene.
Booth is accused of robbing Eduardo as well as two other victims within the same month. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because Booth was at the center of a viral courtroom moment in 2015. Back then, Judge Mindy Glazer, who presided over his bond hearing, recognized Booth as a former middle school classmate.
The emotional encounter touched many when Glazer offered him words of encouragement, telling him:
“I hope you’re able to come out of this OK and lead a lawful life.”
Unfortunately, Booth’s actions were anything but lawful. Despite the compassionate words of Judge Glazer, he was arrested again for multiple charges, including burglary and assault. Last Thursday, he appeared before a different judge to face these new charges.
Eduardo, who still hopes to recover his cherished gold chain, explained that it was a special gift from Cuba and held deep sentimental value.
Detectives were able to track Booth down by reviewing surveillance footage and discovering that the suspect had pawned jewelry matching the stolen items. Booth has since been denied bond.
