Trump Sues CBS Over Kamala Harris ’60 Minutes’ Interview

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, filed a lawsuit against CBS on Thursday over an interview with his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, that aired on “60 Minutes” in early October. According to the court filing, the lawsuit claims the segment misrepresented Harris’s responses regarding the war between Israel and Hamas.

The complaint, submitted in federal court in the Northern District of Texas, alleges that CBS aired two different responses from Harris. The version that aired on October 6 excluded what the lawsuit describes as a “word salad” response in which Harris commented on the Biden administration’s influence over Israel’s actions in the conflict.

A spokesperson for CBS News responded, stating, “Former President Trump’s repeated claims against 60 Minutes are false. The lawsuit Trump has brought today against CBS is completely without merit and we will vigorously defend against it.”

With the U.S. presidential election approaching on Tuesday, Trump and Harris are locked in a close race according to polls. The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and approximately $10 billion in damages, alleging violations of a Texas law that prohibits deceptive business practices.

Throughout his campaign, Trump has criticized CBS regarding this episode and has threatened to revoke the network’s broadcasting license if he wins. CBS also noted that Trump had canceled his own planned interview with “60 Minutes.”
