Tyrese Gibson, renowned for his roles in the Fast & Furious franchise, was briefly detained and later released in Georgia for failing to pay his court-ordered $10,000 monthly child support for his 5-year-old daughter, Soraya, according to the Fulton County Public Information Officer.

The incident occurred on Sept. 9 when Judge Kevin Farmer, presiding over the case in Fulton County, held Gibson in contempt of court for not fulfilling his child support obligations, which he was supposed to start paying in April.

The Director of Communications at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to The New York Post that Gibson is no longer in custody.

Despite his legal troubles, Tyrese took to Instagram to share photos of his children and express his enduring commitment as a father. He wrote,

“The love that a father can have for his children can’t quite be explained……. Whatever the outcome is today…… I am and will forever be their FATHER.”

The actor, who was previously married to Samantha Lee from 2017 to 2020, had been ordered in September 2022 to pay $10,000 a month as part of their parenting agreement.

Gibson has publicly criticized the judicial system, claiming it favors women, and expressed frustration with the ongoing legal battle on social media.

Gibson also addressed his ex-wife Samantha Lee’s decision to pursue legal action. In a recent Instagram post, which has since been deleted, he hinted at potential arrest, saying,

“At 9am in the morning in Atlanta I might be arrested in court.”

In a separate video, Gibson criticized the legal system and accused it of bias against men, stating, “When you were born a man, you go into a courtroom and you understand clearly that there is a preset menu that says, ‘You were born a man, f–k you.’”

The actor’s frustrations with the legal system echo his previous courtroom experiences, including a reprimand from Judge Farmer in a September 2022 hearing. Gibson had been warned to refrain from questioning his ex-wife’s lawyers about financial matters, with the judge stating, “If you do it again, I’m going to hold you in contempt.”

Samantha Lee has previously spoken about their co-parenting challenges, emphasizing a desire for equal effort in their daughter’s upbringing.
