Tyshael Elise Martin, a Florida resident, has been charged with first-degree murder following a horrifying incident in which she allegedly ordered her Rottweiler to attack a 9-year-old girl, Jamaria Sessions.
The disturbing attack, which occurred in June and was captured on the family’s security camera, has shocked the community and led to further legal action.
Gruesome Details Emerge
The arrest affidavit, obtained by People, reveals chilling footage of Martin allegedly holding the leash of her 100-pound Rottweiler and instructing it to bite the child.
The affidavit describes Martin’s actions as she repeatedly commanded the dog to attack Jamaria, who was lying on the floor.
The video also shows Martin kicking Jamaria, pulling her by her hair, and striking her while the child was helpless.
The affidavit includes a troubling quote from Martin:
“I’m fixin’ to kill her.”
Investigation and Arrests
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that Jamaria was found unresponsive at the home on June 16, with numerous injuries including abrasions, punctures, burns, and bruises, some of which were in various stages of healing.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
The medical examiner’s report ruled her death a homicide, attributing it to complications from multiple blunt injuries and thermal injury, consistent with extended physical abuse.
Two days later, police arrested Jamaria’s father, LoJuan Sessions, charging him with aggravated manslaughter of a child.
Sessions, who had recently moved out of the home following a dispute with Martin, was informed of the horrific condition his daughter was in only when 911 was called for an unresponsive child.
Prior Criminal History
The investigation revealed that both Martin and Sessions had previous criminal records. Both individuals had been involved in illegal narcotics and had prior charges related to exposing their children to dangerous conditions.
Sessions, in particular, had a history of drug trafficking and felony child neglect before this tragic event.
Legal Proceedings
Tyshael Elise Martin has already appeared before a Lake County judge but has not entered a plea.
The case continues to unfold as both Martin and Sessions face serious charges related to the death of Jamaria Sessions.
