Irv Gotti is reportedly contemplating a countersuit for defamation against a woman who has accused him of sexual assault.
According to TMZ, a representative for Gotti stated that the woman pursued legal action only after her attempts to secure a monetary settlement from him failed.
Allegations and Legal Action
As reported by The Shade Room, Gotti, 54, faces accusations from a former lover of assaulting her in Miami, Atlanta, and Saint Martin.
The lawsuit, filed on July 11 in Miami-Dade County, identifies the accuser as Jane Doe.
She alleges that Gotti sexually assaulted her multiple times between 2020 and 2022, causing severe emotional and psychological trauma that required hospitalization in a psychiatric ward.
Response from Gotti’s Camp
Gotti’s representative has dismissed the allegations as baseless, claiming the woman is merely seeking a financial payout.
The representative noted that the lawsuit consists of a single page of “unsworn” and sparse facts, which Gotti categorically denies.
“The plaintiff has suffered severe emotional and psychological harm for which she had to be committed to a psychiatric ward. These injuries continue and affect the plaintiff to this day,” the court documents state.
Gotti’s representative further stated that the allegations are an insult to genuine victims of abuse, highlighting Gotti’s long-standing respect and support for women.
Gotti’s Defense and Potential Countersuit
“Mr. Gotti has been surrounded by strong women the entirety of his life – his mother, five sisters, and daughter. The top employees at his company are women,” the representative stated. “Mr. Gotti’s reputation has been placed at issue, which is why he is considering filing a defamation claim.”
The lawsuit claims that during their two-year relationship, Gotti coerced the woman into performing sexual acts in public, leading to her mental health issues. Gotti vehemently denies these claims.
As Gotti considers his legal options, this case underscores the complexities and challenges involved in high-profile allegations of sexual misconduct.
