Miami Dade Bar Association Elects Historic First Black Woman President

Charise Morgan

In a landmark moment for Miami-Dade County’s legal community, Attorney Charise Morgan has been elected as the first Black woman president of the Miami Dade Bar Association.

Established 108 years ago, the association represents the largest network of lawyers in the county.

A distinguished graduate of Mercer University School of Law and currently serving as staff legal counsel for Zurich North America, Morgan brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to community service to her new role.

“This opportunity is not just a personal honor but a chance for our bar to better mirror the rich diversity of Miami-Dade County,” Morgan commented upon her election.

Driven by a deep-seated desire to assist others, Morgan said the fundamental role attorneys play in ensuring access to essential services for all residents of Miami-Dade.

“Being an attorney means recognizing our duty to serve,” she affirmed. “I envision a legal community where every member understands their responsibility to contribute positively to society.”

Looking ahead, Morgan hopes her presidency will inspire others to embrace the ethos of service within the legal profession.

“It’s about leaving a lasting impact, about leaving every space better than we found it,” she added.

Morgan’s historic appointment underscores a pivotal moment in the association’s history, marking a significant step forward in fostering inclusivity and community engagement within Miami-Dade’s legal framework.
