On Friday, a man died after setting himself on fire outside the New York courthouse where Donald Trump’s trial was concluding.
Witnesses reported he wasn’t targeting Trump.
The man ignited himself after throwing pamphlets. He’s identified as Max Azzarello from Florida.
Police said he appeared to be a conspiracy theorist. A manifesto by someone with the same name mentions setting oneself on fire.
The courthouse was heavily guarded amid dwindling protests. Jury selection for Trump’s trial finished, allowing opening statements on Monday.
The jury, mostly professionals from various backgrounds, will decide Trump’s fate. He faces accusations of covering up hush money paid to Stormy Daniels.
Trump denies the allegations in this trial and others. A conviction wouldn’t prevent him from running for office.
