A vengeful mother has found herself behind bars after taking the law into her own hands by attempting to kill her daughter’s alleged rapist.
Danyale Harris, 42, was found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony on March 22, 2024.
It all started in 2020 when Harris discovered a video of a 22-year-old man, Antonio Harley, having sex with her 12-year-old daughter.
Harris immediately called DeKalb county police who warned her to remain home and not do anything she’d later regret. Harris did not remain home.
Instead, she rounded up a group of people and had her daughter show her where Harley lived.
When Harris and crew knocked on Harley’s front door, Harley didn’t open it but went around the side of the building to see who it was. But Harris and her crew spotted him peeking and they began chasing him.
Harley was able to make it back to his apartment and ran through the back door. As soon as Harley shut the door, someone from Harris’ group fired through it, shooting Harley in the chest.
Harley’s brother, who was also inside the apartment with several young children, returned fire, killing one of Harris’ accomplices, 19-year-old Juan Newkirk.
Harris was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole, plus five years.
Harley survived the gunshot on his chest and has since been charged with statutory rape, child molestation, and sexual exploitation of children.
His case is pending.
