Peter Thomas, known for his ventures in the hospitality industry, has found himself in legal turmoil as court documents reveal a staggering $9 million default judgment against his now-shuttered Miami restaurant, Bar One Miami Beach, and his failed nightclub project, 1 Society.
Late last year, Bar One Miami Beach ceased operations due to unpaid rent, marking a setback for Thomas’s business endeavors.
Moreover, plans for his nightclub venture, 1 Society, which was intended to grace the Miami scene, never materialized despite a $3 million investment.
According to court records obtained by Radar Online, DTS DT Retail, the landlord for the proposed 1 Society location, initiated legal action against Thomas, who is a former Real Housewives of Atlanta star.
Despite the project’s incomplete status, Thomas had previously signed a 120-month lease for the premises, complicating matters further.
DTS alleged that Thomas’s business breached the lease agreement by failing to fulfill rent obligations spanning from October 2022 to January 2023.
While Thomas responded to the lawsuit, his business entity, 1 Society, remained conspicuously silent, resulting in a default judgment against it.
The landlord’s demand, totaling a staggering $9,175,189.38, encompasses all outstanding rent due under the lease terms and additional expenses incurred.
In response to inquiries from Radar Online, Thomas expressed confidence in his legal position, stating defiantly,
“I’m going to win… they’ll never see a dime.”
As the legal battle unfolds, Peter Thomas faces the daunting task of navigating the fallout from his failed business ventures, with significant financial repercussions looming on the horizon.
