Newly released body camera footage from the Fairborn Police Department in Ohio has revealed a harrowing scene of officers rescuing a severely malnourished 3-year-old girl from a deplorable living environment.
The child, weighing a mere 16 pounds, was found in a feces-covered, bug-infested apartment that left authorities in shock.
The incident unfolded on Jan. 8, when officers responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive toddler in need of immediate medical assistance at an apartment on Wallace Drive.
Upon arrival, officers were confronted with a scene of squalor, with garbage strewn across the residence and sticky-paper fly traps covered in dead flies adorning the walls.
As officers entered the child’s room, they discovered her lying on the ground next to a filthy mattress, covered in bug bites and surrounded by feces and urine.
Initially fearing the worst, officers were relieved to find the child alive but in desperate need of medical attention. She was swiftly transported to a hospital for treatment.
The child’s mother, identified as 25-year-old Rabyah N. Muballigh, was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree felonious assault and third-degree felony endangering children.
Muballigh, who initially provided a false name to the 911 dispatcher, was taken into custody as officers worked to secure the child’s safety.
The bodycam footage captures the heartbreaking moment as officers confront the appalling conditions inside the home and their efforts to rescue the young girl. Muballigh can be seen visibly distraught as she is placed under arrest and taken into custody.
The case has drawn widespread attention and raised concerns about child welfare and neglect. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident as Muballigh faces serious criminal charges.
The child, now in the care of child protective services, is receiving medical treatment and support as she recovers from her traumatic ordeal.
